很难确切说出国际妇女节是从何时开始的，它的起源可以追溯到1908年，当时15000名妇女在纽约市游行，要求投票权、加薪和缩短工时。一年后，按照美国社会党的宣言，美国人在2月28日庆祝了第一个全国妇女节。
In 1910, a woman called Clara Zetkin – leader of the ‘women’s office’ for the Social Democratic Party in Germany – tabled the idea of an International Women’s Day. She suggested that every country should celebrate women on one day every year to push for their demands.A conference of more than 100 women from 17 countries agreed to her suggestion and IWD was formed. In 1911, it was celebrated for the first time in Austria, Denmark, Germany and Switzerland on March 19.

In 1913, it was decided to transfer IWD to March 8, and it has been celebrated on that day ever since. The day was only recognized by the United Nations in 1975, but ever since it has created a theme each year for the celebration.
1913年，人们决定将国际妇女节改到3月8日，自此每年都在这一天庆祝妇女节。1975年，国际妇女节获得联合国的承认，此后每年的妇女节庆祝活动都有一个主题。
其实妇女节的真正意义更在于鼓励女性在每年的这一天离开工作岗位，证明女性对社会经济来说是多么的重要。相信很多小伙伴还记得美国女权组织Women’s March在2017年举行的大游行，Women’s March的网站上还写着这么一段话：
“In the same spirit of love and liberation that inspired the Women’s March, we join together in making March 8 A Day Without a Woman.”
“爱与自由的精神激励着Women’s March，我们联合起来，让3月8日变成没有女性的一天。”
可见，“妇女节”最开始是为庆祝妇女在经济、政治和社会等领域做出的重要贡献和取得的巨大成就而设立的节日。
01、“三八妇女节”正确表达：Women’s Day
如果是日常口语表达 “妇女节” 的话，正确答案就是用复数，不难理解云用英语怎么说云用英语怎么说，因为这个节日是针对所有的女性而不是单指一个，所以在这里就需要用复数。
而 “妇女节快乐” 就是”Happy Women’s Day”. 也可以说 ” Wish you a happy Women’s Day”.
但是注意，如果是 “妇女节” 全称“ 国际妇女节”的话就是”International Women’s Day”。
02、Girl/Woman/Female/Lady
①Girl：通常用来形容比较年轻的女孩。
②Woman: 最常用的词，表示 “女性，女人”。
③Female：一般使用于正式情况下，主要强调性别，口语中不常用它。
④Lady：淑女，优雅女性，也可以直接表示女士，夫人。尤用于称呼不认识的女子。
03、Madam/Miss/Goddess
①Madam：表示夫人，女士，比较尊重的称呼特别是对于年长女性，也可以用于一些正式场合。在英国迷你剧《唐顿庄园》当中，经常会听到 Madam 和 Lady 这种称呼。
②Miss：表示小姐，女士，用于姓氏面前，礼貌称呼不知姓名的年轻女子。
③Goddess：指女神，极受尊敬或者敬慕的女人。
